I read an article today about the discussion as to whether wii Fit can help you get rid of your baby belly. The discussion forum was interesting with people saying things like - just go for a walk, well sometimes it's not always that simple so here's my story.
The VERY unflattering photo to the left is of me the night before my planned c-section. As you can see I was huge, I'd put on 3 stone carrying the twins and I was nervous about trying to get the weight off in time for my wedding. I had always been a bigger girl, and trying to lose weight was not something that I had ever really tried to do before so I had no idea how I'd get on. I did not have much choice though - I was getting married in less than 7 months and my parents had already bought me the dress of my dreams (it was purchased a month before I found out that I was pregnant).
After a month of being home and well on the road to recovery after my operation I knew that it was time to get into shape. I still needed to be cautious that I did not over work myself as my body had been healing well and I did not want to ruin that. Also where I live is very hilly so I was unable to walk far without my scar feeling very uncomfortable and experiencing a pulling sensation in my stomach. Plus trying to get the boys out on my own would be impossible, and joining a gym just wasn't an option, so I turned to my trusty wii fit that I had had for a while and never really stepped on!
What I liked straight away was the weight chart that would accurately show any weight loss or gain. I began with a light step aerobics work out which was great for getting me moving without over doing it. I started off with 10 minutes a day and increased this once my body felt stronger. Before I knew it I was doing 30 minutes without any problems so began introducing other exercises such as a boxing work out and running (on the spot). I tried to do between 30 minutes to 1 hour 5 days a week. I also cut down on bread (my achilles heel) and fizzy pop, other than that though I didn't really change my diet.
Watching the graph on the weight chart gradually go down hill was a great feeling and I looked forward to my exercise. The day of my wedding I was a huge 4 stone lighter, I was so pleased because not only did I fit comfortably into my wedding dress but I was also 1 stone lighter than before I got pregnant.
If I'm honest once the wedding passed and the boys became more demanding as they were now crawling my exercise slipt. However I have stuck to my 4 stone weight loss and am beginning to feel motivated again to get back to it. I have set myself a 2 stone target for by the end of the year. I know that this may seem a long time for me to reach my goal, especially how I lost 4 stone in half the time - but I don't want to pressure myself, if more comes off fantastic! If not well as long as my goal is reached I will have met my target, and I recon that's a good thing!
